Gucci Jewelry released a new jewellery collection at Baselworld 2015, Flora.
It’s part of their fine jewellery range with a mixture of 18kt white and pink gold pieces. The pieces are very pretty and as Gucci have said, the collection is whimsical and luxurious, glamorous and romantic.
If you weren’t already aware, Gucci’s leadership team changed dramatically at the end of last year with the power couple (both personally and professionally) Creative Director Frida Giannini and CEO Patrizio di Marco exiting the Italian fashion house in quick succession. Giannini having been with the brand for over 12 years, eight of them as Creative Director.
Giannini’s associate director for the past three years, Alessandro Michele has stepped up as the new Creative Director for the brand, a fresh vision required to revitalise and drive stagnant sales.
Under Giannini’s directorship, Gucci were renowned for their bold Italian designs of their Gucci Icon rings, Horsebit bracelets and Bamboo bangles and so the new dainty pieces comprising the Gucci Flora range are a very sweet addition.
Just the two gold options within the collection with diamonds featuring heavily along with enamel and rubies in the pink gold pieces. Gucci are definitely trying to target a new market segment that have perhaps been left out of the Gucci Jewellery experience due to the dominance of heavy gold. Thankfully the horsebit has been left in some pieces of the collection. This of course will appeal to many a Gucci consumer and perhaps indicates the design teams reliance on such Gucci icons.
Michele has 12 years experience with Gucci, eight of those years within the Gucci accessories department so it’s an exciting time for Gucci and I’m very much looking forward to bringing you their latest creations as they’re released.
